Panthère noire debout, c. 1948

Original lithograph on China paper with large margin, signed and justified « épreuve d’artiste » (artist proof) embossed panther head stamp lower right. Edition of 4.
39 x 25.50 cm

History:
This original lithograph is inspired by the ten subjects specially painted by Jouve to illustrate the biography dedicated to him, written by Charles Terrasse and published in 1948.

However, these are not pages from the book or excerpts from the sequences of this book but original lithographs, printed separately by the printer, Lucien Détruit, shortly after the publication of the book. All the editions printed separately are made on Japanese paper, with the artist's panther-headed embossed stamp and justified by the artist's hand.
