History:

This oil was first chosen to serve as a model for Grand duc ébouriffé, which appears in the etching portfolio published by Apollo for the Weill Gallery in 1930. Once again Jouve chose this painting to be included in his biography written by Charles Terrasse and published in 1948. The artist also used this motif as a lamp to illustrate Colette's book Paradis terrestres (p.37) in 1932. The work is presented in its original frame.
