Éléphants et leurs cornacs, La rivière des parfums, Hué, 1931

Etching on parchment signed and justified « épreuve d’artiste sur parchemin » (artist proof on parchment) lower right. One of the rare luxury prints on parchment
41 x 53 cm

History:
This print, printed on parchment, is one of the ten subjects chosen for the album published by Editions Apollo for Galerie Weill in 1931. From this portfolio were printed one hundred copies numbered from 1 to 100 as well as eleven luxury albums on Japan numbered from I to XI. The artist will reserve a few luxury copies on parchment for each of the subjects. Some of these albums were nested in a studded leather box made by the house of Hermès and decorated with an etching of the artist (using a model of a door hammer carved from his creation), one of which we present in this exhibition.
