From November 15, 2019
to January 4, 2020

Seduced by Paul Jouve’s captivating work, Galerie Alexis Pentcheff is delighted to announce its forthcoming exhibition dedicated to the painter and sculptor starting from 15 November 2019 to 4 January 2020. Located in Marseille, this show will display a hundred works - paintings, drawings, engravings, lithographs and sculptures -  focusing on a dazzling career led by two passions: artistic creation and the animal world.

This exhibition is a journey at the heart of the animal world, travelling across continents, wild or civilised territories, guided by the virtuosity of the line. Incredibly timeless, these works have become symbols, emblematic of the Art Deco style. Tribute to a nature lover, this bestiary will gather wild animals of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, where it all started, raptors, met in Hamburg, the very first trip, camels discovered during his African traverse, elephants, sacred creatures of Far Eastern cultures.

For several years now, the gallery has been defending the work of travelling painters, notably Joseph Inguimberty and André Maire. Fascinated by the cultural and pictorial richness of these works, it is with this same comprehensive approach that the gallery wishes to propose an exhibition entirely dedicated to the fascinating work of Paul Jouve.
