History, according to Roger Passeron:
"This sculpture was also conceived during the artist's second surrealist period. It is more compact than the previous one and some of the forms prefigure, in a more massive way, the drawings of musical instruments made in New Preston (Connecticut) in 1942.
André Masson had planned to specify a graphism reinforced by incisions on his sculpture, particularly for the breast on the right."
