History, according to Roger Passeron:
"Sculpture conceived during the artist's second surrealist period. He had initially planned it in plaster. Then he preferred terracotta. This group, especially in its morphology, is to be compared to the sculptures that Picasso made in 1932 and stored at Boisgeloup, and that Masson did not know because Picasso did not show them at that time.
One will notice the concern of the artist who studied up to what should be his base, which he planned to be formed of left, concave and convex surfaces, on the top and on the side.
